Reflection on Kids 360° Music Video and Inspiration for My Project
Watching the Kids 360° music video created for OneRepublic was an eye-opening experience that aligns deeply with the vision I have for my own 360 VR animation music video. The sheer complexity of choreographing over 100 people in a single, four-minute take that moves seamlessly between two rooms across the street is something I found both inspiring and technically challenging. This video shows how immersive storytelling, combined with meticulous planning, can create a breathtaking experience.
What truly stands out to me in this piece is the fluidity with which the camera moves between spaces, effectively placing the viewer inside the scene, not as a mere observer but as someone who lives within the world being shown. This dynamic interaction with the environment is exactly what I aim to achieve in my project. The movement from room to room and across the street provides a strong sense of depth and 3D space, something essential for 360° content.
In my project, where I aim to go “To infinity and beyond” and “Welcome people to a new universe,” the techniques used in Kids serve as a vital reference point. I want to take the audience on a journey not just through physical space but into realms of imagination where they can experience fresh, innovative worlds. Just as the Kids video provides an interactive journey through an unfolding love story, I intend to build a narrative that invites viewers to explore beyond what they know into virtual worlds where creativity reigns.
One thing I admire about the Kids video is how it disregards traditional advice against camera movement in 360°. This defiance of conventional rules resonates with me, as I too believe in breaking boundaries to push the medium further. The single-take style adds a layer of authenticity and immersion that I also wish to emulate in my own piece, where the audience is pulled into an uninterrupted, visually compelling flow.
For my project, the main theme is all about offering people an experience they’ve never had before something that feels new, exciting, and endlessly expansive. With my key phrases being “to infinity and beyond” and “welcome to the new universe,” I want to invite the audience into a space where they feel like they’re part of a living, breathing, imaginative world. My approach will mirror the thoughtfulness and detail that Kids brought to 360° storytelling, but with my own unique twist of a fully immersive, multi-sensory universe.
This video reaffirms my belief in the power of innovative 360° storytelling and reminds me that through perseverance, bold ideas, and technical mastery, I can create something truly groundbreaking. The meticulous planning and dedication that went into Kids serve as a motivating example of what’s possible when pushing the boundaries of music video and interactive 3D experiences.
